29 January, 2010
Fifteen Class 6 Primary School students who obtained the highest score in the Fiji Intermediate Exam in 2009 from the 9 Education Districts in Fiji were each awarded 500 Fijian Holdings Unit Trust (FHUT) units to commence their investment with the FHUT. The students were awarded their FHUT certificates during the prize giving ceremonies at their respective schools towards the end of last year. This was an initiative by the Fijian Holdings Trust Management Limited (FHTML), the Fund Manager for FHUT in conjunction with the Ministry of Education. Fijian Holdings Limited Manager Financial Markets, Tevita Gonelevu said, “Education is an investment which can be a long and expensive exercise. We at FHTML are delighted to be part of this investment process to support the education of our young people by recognizing their achievements and hardwork. “ Mr Gonelevu added, “Many people in this country do not know the importance of investing or how to invest their funds. This initiative provides the opportunity for students to learn about investing and its benefits at a young age”.
