In a statement issued today, Fijian Holdings Limited announced Executive appointments in two of its subsidiary companies.

In making the announcement, FHL Managing Director, Sereana Qoro said that Mr Mosese Volavola has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer for Basic Industries Ltd (BIL) and Fiji Industries Ltd (FIL) and Mr Tim Stonhill as General Manager for Blue Lagoon Cruises Limited.

Mrs Qoro said “ As Chief Executive Officer, Mr Volavola will be responsible for the successful management of BIL and FIL. Prior to this appointment, Mr Volavola was General Manager for Standard Concrete Industries, a division of BIL. He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the University of Auckland and a Masters of engineering Management degree from the Sydney University of Technology. Mr Volavola’s appointment is a culmination of a successful Group’s succession strategy where he joined Fijian Holdings Ltd as a Graduate Trainee, proved himself in key management positions over the past 16 years and now assuming the CEO position for two major subsidiaries of FHL. Mr Volavola will be the second local in the history of the company to assume this role”.

Mrs Qoro added that Mr Tim Stonhill, the new General Manager for Blue Lagoon Cruises (BLC), has been in the Tourism Industry for more than 30 years. He joined BLC from the Grand Hotels International where he was General Manager for Hotel Grand Chancellor in Christchurch and also Group operations Director for the 11 Grand Chancellor hotels in New Zealand for over 12 years. He commenced his career as Catering Manager for Holiday Inns Ltd in the United Kingdom and is a dual citizen of New Zealand and Britain. Mr Stonhill is also a Board member of Variety New Zealand, a charity organisation for less fortunate children.

Mrs Qoro further added that FHL is confident that Mr Stonhill’s strong background and extensive experience in the Tourism and Travel Industry will positively contribute towards the performance and business prospects of Blue Lagoon Cruises. Mr Stonhill is expected to train two locals as his ‘understudy’ during the term of his 3 year contract.
