Suva, 05 December, 2008: Fijian Holdings Limited continues to sponsor the Dux prizes for the three major government schools for indigenous Fijians in Fiji which are Adi Cakobau School, Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School.

The company also sponsors a prize for the indigenous Fijian student that scores the highest mark in form seven Fijiwide.

Representatives of the company attended the prize giving ceremonies at the three schools in the last two weeks to present the prizes. In partnership with Telecom Fiji who provided Brother printers and internet connections, Fijian Holdings provided HP Compaq Laptop Computers. The total value of the sponsorship is approximately $12,000.

Fijian Holdings Chairman, Mr Isoa Kaloumaira presented the Dux prize at Adi Cakobau School whilst FHL Manager Financial Markets, Mr Tevita Gonelevu and Mr Sowani Tuidrola, Manager Sales and Marketing for Fijian Holdings Unit Trust presented the prizes at Queen Victoria School and Ratu Kadavulevu School respectively.

Ratu Kadavulevu School Dux prize winner, Sitiveni Ratulevu was excited with his prize. He said that the prize will assist him with his studies at the University of the South Pacific. The 18 year old student from Laselase Village in Nadroga intends to do a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Information System. Mr George Tabua, the Principal of the school expressed the school’s appreciation to FHL for the sponsorship.

By sponsoring the Dux Prizes FHL not only gives back something to the community by encouraging young people to work hard, get a good education and be better citizens of the future, it also contributes to the achievement of our objective.”
