Fijian Holdings Property Trust Fund (FHPT) and Fijian Holdings Unit Trust (FHUT) today declared interim dividends for the period ending 31st December 2006.

First Interim Dividend for Fijian Holdings Property Trust Fund Six months after it was launched in May 2006, Fijian Holdings Property Trust Fund declared its first dividend of 3.0 cents per unit. In making the announcement, FHL Group Managing Director, Mr. Sitiveni Weleilakeba mentioned that, "Being the first locally-offered property trust vehicle, the result is very positive for a new product and it is very encouraging as it strengthens our market position and investors confidence." A total of $335,733 will be paid as the first interim dividend. FHPT offers investors a unique alternative investment product to diversify their portfolio into sections of the property market that would be difficult for an ordinary investor to invest in. All unit holders holding at least 1000 units as at 31 December 2006 will be entitled to the dividends.

Highest Dividend Payout for Fijian Holdings Unit Trust FHUT declared its highest interim dividend of 1.5 cents per unit for the six months ended 31 December 2006 since inception in April 2001. "This is an exceptional result achieved against a challenging investment environment," said Mr Weleilakeba. A total of $737,539 will be paid as interim dividend compared to $523,707 declared on 31 December 2005 and $383,643 on 31 December 2004. "The 41% increase over the year continued a pattern of consistent dividend growth and would be reassuring to the investors," he added. All unit holders holding at least 500 units as at 31 December 2006 will be entitled to the dividends. The investment portfolio of the Fund as at 31 December 2006 totaled $29.74 million. It is currently spread over locally listed and unlisted companies, term deposits and Government guaranteed bonds.

The payment of interim dividends will be made on 31 January 2007. The Fijian Holdings Unit Trust and Fijian Holdings Property Trust Fund continue to remain a relatively affordable investment product for both institutional and retail investors. Investment in these two products is available to all races including non-residents and offers tax-free dividends to Fiji residents.
